I had a race this weekend, a Triathlon in Emmett, and it made me think of this memory, I want my kids to know this story, so I am writing it down.
My Dad was sick with cancer for months before he passed away. My Mom and him would stay up late at night and talk about us kids, as he got more and more sick, he began to have her write down things he would like for us to know after he had left us. At his funeral all of these sweet words were read to us all. I remember he said to Dustin take care of me, he told me that he loved me, and that he was proud of me, he finished by saying to me "May your feet have wings, Run baby Run" My dad knew how much I loved to run and he supported me with his whole heart. I think of my Dad every time I am on a run. Every race since he has passed away, I head over to my Mom's house and she writes those very last words to me on my arms. I can look down anytime and see them and it makes me smile, and I think it even makes me run a little faster :). I love you Dad!
